The 3761 low current multiplexer offers very high quality low current connections at an economical price. The generated offset current error is specified at <1 pA, with typical performance at <30 fA. In combination with a voltage source and an electrometer or picoamperemeter, the module can be used for automated insulation resistance tests, leakage current measurements on semiconductor junctions or on FET gates.
The 3761 multiplexer card has both a current and a voltage mode. In current mode, the current path is maintained even if the channel is open. This eliminates the need to reload the measuring cable between measurements. In voltage mode, the input is interrupted and high impedance. The SMA input connections are used for shielding during sensitive measurements. The 3761 plug-in module is not connected to the 6 common buses on the 3706A backplane. However, two outputs are available to connect multiple scanner cards to one measuring instrument, allowing up to 60 channels. An isolation relay in the HI output minimizes mutual interference between the cards.
