The 3732 ultra-high density reed relay matrix card consists of four multiplexer banks, each with 4 rows and 28 columns, providing 448 single-pole crosspoints for maximum connection diversity in high channel count applications. For even greater flexibility, backplane relays are provided to enable two additional matrix configurations: a 4x112 bank and a 4x56 dual bank. This makes it easy to adapt the matrix size to existing or future applications. For differential 2-wire measurements, a two-pole mode can be selected, allowing automatic coupling of crossover points and realizing a dual 4x28 or a single 4x56 configuration. For larger matrix arrangements, analog backplane relays are provided to allow the connection of additional rows via the 3706A series mainframe backplane. The maximum configuration of a 3706A mainframe with six 3732 plug-in modules results in a matrix of up to 4 rows of 672 columns each.
The matrix card uses optimized, long-life reed relays that offer both a low contact potential and a low current offset to minimize switching errors. In addition, these relays offer a wider dynamic range for signal voltage (200 V) and current (1.2 A carry) and support fast switching times required in many automated test applications.
