The CS508 from Cleverscope is an oscilloscope system with fully galvanically isolated channels for demanding measurement tasks in modern power electronics.

The CS508 was specially developed for applications involving high voltages, extremely fast switching edges and large common-mode voltages. Typical areas of application include converters, switched-mode power supplies, motor drives, automotive electronics, GaN and SiC power semiconductors as well as EMC and efficiency measurements.

The combination of very high common mode rejection, high resolution and high bandwidth means that even the smallest signal components can be cleanly recorded in the presence of large interference voltages.

Typical areas of application:

  • Measurement of high-side and low-side signals in half and full bridges
  • Analysis of gate drivers (dead time, gate charge, timing, overshoot)
  • Measurement of switching and conduction losses on MOSFETs, IGBTs, GaN and SiC transistors
  • Current, voltage and power analysis in converters and power supplies
  • EMC and spectrum analysis of switching nodes and supply rails
  • Frequency response analysis (FRA) of power supplies, filters and passive components
  • Synchronized multi-channel measurements with up to 16 isolated channels

  • Up to 4 fully galvanically isolated analog channels (Art.-No. CS548) (optionally also available with fewer channels)
  • Isolation per channel: 2 kV DC, 600 V AC CAT III (local channels)
  • Up to ±30 kV isolation when using the remote digitizers
  • Extremely high common mode rejection ratio (CMRR): up to 100 dB at 50 MHz
  • 14 bit resolution with approx. 100 dB dynamic range
  • Analog bandwidth: 200 MHz
  • Sampling rate: up to 500 MS/s on all channels simultaneously
  • Two hardware input ranges: ±0.8 V and ±8 V (automatic scaling via probes)
  • Very low noise: approx. 200 µV RMS in the ±0.8 V range
  • Integrated isolated signal generator up to 65 MHz
  • Isolated digital inputs and outputs expandable via pod system
  • Synchronizable with up to 3 additional CS548 devices for 16-channel measurement systems
  • Very low channel-to-channel jitter for precise time correlation
  • USB 3.0 interface for fast data transfer
  • Developed according to safety standards for measurements up to CAT III

CS1200 Voltage Digitizer (Voltage Digitizer)

The CS1200 Voltage Digitizer is an external, battery-powered, fully isolated voltage digitizer. It is connected to the oscilloscope via a fiber optic connection and enables measurements directly in the high-voltage range or within safety cages. It is required when voltages with extremely high common-mode potential or at a greater distance from the oscilloscope need to be measured safely. This enables high-precision voltage measurements to be carried out on floating potentials, e.g. on high-side switches or DC links.

CS1201 Current Digitizer

The CS1201 Current Digitizer is used together with a low-impedance shunt (e.g. 1 mΩ) and enables high-precision, isolated current measurements with a very high bandwidth. It is required to measure switching currents, current ramps and fast current transients directly on power semiconductors. This enables precise calculations of switching losses, conduction losses and energy per switching operation.

  • CS1301 Isolated Digital Input Pods: Isolated digital inputs for the acquisition of logic signals, triggers and control lines (included in the scope of delivery).
  • CS1302 Isolated Digital I/O Pod: Generation of isolated PWM, pulse and double-pulse signals, ideal for gate control and DPT testing.
  • CS1133 VSAT Probe: Special probe for measuring very low saturation voltages on power semiconductors with high reverse voltage at the same time.
  • CS1501 Shunt Sensor: Precise 1 mΩ shunt for the CS1201 for highly dynamic current measurement.
  • Link cable: For coupling several CS548 devices to form a synchronized multi-channel system.
  • Isolated probes and 100x probes: For measurements on high voltages and fast switching nodes.
