The Cinergia GE+ vAC/DC series comprises 13 models from 7.5 kW to 160 kW and offers "Same Power in AC and DC". Each device can freely specify grid characteristics such as voltage, frequency, phase angle and (inter)harmonics up to the 50th order per phase; THDi on the grid side < 3 % at cos φ > 0.98 ensures a clean feed-in. The 30 kHz control loop and extensive interference profiles (including IEC 61000-4-11/-13/-14/-28, LVRT, SEMI-F47) enable reproducible tests. Applications range from electromobility & charging infrastructure to energy storage, PV/PV emulation, smart grids and power HiL.

  • Generation of global grids: 3-phase/1-phase/split-phase, independent phase parameters incl. harmonics & ramps.
  • Disturbance & standard tests: Dips, flicker, frequency jumps, (inter-)harmonics; editor & ready-made IEC profiles (pre-compliance).
  • DC multichannel: Up to three independent bidirectional DC channels (common ground), CV/CC/CP/CR modes, battery test/emulation & PV emulation optional.
  • Regenerative & parallelizable: regenerative for energy recovery; master/slave via LWL for power/voltage increase.
  • Operation & integration: 4.3″ touch, open Modbus TCP interface (LAN), analog/digital I/Os, data acquisition.

Variant in focus: GE+ 50 vAC/DC

The GE+ 50 vAC/DC model offers a rated output of 50 kW and forms the powerful bridge between the compact laboratory devices and the industrial high-performance variants in the series. It combines high current, precise regulation and regenerative feedback, making it ideal for test and validation applications with higher energy requirements. In AC mode, the device delivers up to 72 A (3-channel) or 216 A (1-channel). In DC mode, ±72 A (3-channel) and ±216 A (1-channel) are available. This makes the GE+ 50 vAC/DC ideal for high-current tests on chargers, traction inverters, vehicle electrical system simulations and battery test benches.

Comparison with the other models in the series

  • Power/scaling: The GE+ 50 vAC/DC offers 25% more power than the 40 kW model and covers a wide range of applications in electromobility and energy electronics research. It marks the transition to large-scale test technology with high continuous power and extended thermal management.
  • Currents: With 72/216 A (AC) or ±72/±216 A (DC), the device supports power-intensive tests, e.g. for fast-charging devices or DC/DC converters with a large load window.
  • Design: Robust control cabinet housing (approx. 770 × 450 × 1100 mm, ~210 kg) with improved airflow and optional castor kit for flexible installation.
  • Functionality: Full functionality of the series with grid simulation, (inter)harmonics, interference profiles, flicker tests and IEC-compliant pre-compliance tests. Optionally expandable with battery and PV emulation.

  • Control & dynamics: 30 kHz control loop; small signal bandwidth up to 5 kHz (AC).
  • Efficiency (grid-side): ≥ 92 % (40-160 kW).
