The Cinergia GE+ vAC/DC series comprises 13 models from 7.5 kW to 160 kW and offers "Same Power in AC and DC". Each device can freely specify grid characteristics such as voltage, frequency, phase angle and (inter)harmonics up to the 50th order per phase; THDi on the grid side < 3 % at cos φ > 0.98 ensures a clean feed-in. The 30 kHz control loop and extensive interference profiles (including IEC 61000-4-11/-13/-14/-28, LVRT, SEMI-F47) enable reproducible tests. Applications range from electromobility & charging infrastructure to energy storage, PV/PV emulation, smart grids and power HiL.

  • Generation of global grids: 3-phase/1-phase/split-phase, independent phase parameters incl. harmonics & ramps.
  • Disturbance & standard tests: Dips, flicker, frequency jumps, (inter-)harmonics; editor & ready-made IEC profiles (pre-compliance).
  • DC multichannel: Up to three independent bidirectional DC channels (common ground), CV/CC/CP/CR modes, battery test/emulation & PV emulation optional.
  • Regenerative & parallelizable: regenerative for energy recovery; master/slave via LWL for power/voltage increase.
  • Operation & integration: 4.3″ touch, open Modbus TCP interface (LAN), analog/digital I/Os, data acquisition.

Variant in focus: GE+ 40 vAC/DC

The GE+ 40 vAC/DC model offers a rated output of 40 kW in AC and DC and marks the entry into the high-performance range of the series. With its high current and dielectric strength, the device is ideal for demanding test applications in research, development and production - for example for power electronics, energy storage, vehicle electrical systems or charging infrastructure. In AC mode, the GE+ 40 vAC/DC delivers up to 58 A (3-channel) or 174 A (1-channel). In DC mode, ±58 A (3-channel) and ±174 A (1-channel) are available. The combination of high dynamics, precise control and regenerative capability makes this model particularly suitable for continuous test cycles and long-term tests under realistic mains conditions.

Comparison with the other models in the series

  • Power/scaling: The range of industrial power tests begins at 40 kW. Compared to the GE+ 30 vAC/DC, this model offers around 50% more power and is ideal for large-scale energy conversion tests and hardware-in-the-loop systems.
  • Currents: The current values of 58/174 A (AC) and ±58/±174 A (DC) allow realistic simulations of high-current applications such as chargers, drives or DC/DC converters in the automotive and industrial sectors.
  • Design: Sturdy control cabinet measuring approx. 770 × 450 × 1100 mm and weighing around 200 kg; designed for stationary test benches, available with optional roller kit.
  • Functionality: All software and hardware functions of the series are fully available. Including grid simulation, harmonic generation, interference profiles and pre-compliance test libraries in accordance with IEC 61000.

  • DC output: CV (20...750 V; option up to 800 V), CC (0...± 110 % Irated), CP (0...± 200 % Prated), CR (0.1...1000 Ω); rise times typ. 1-2.5 ms.
  • Overload capacity: AC up to 200 % (2 s), 150 % (1 min), 125 % (10 min); DC up to 110 % (1 min).
  • Control & dynamics: 30 kHz control loop; small signal bandwidth up to 5 kHz (AC).
  • Efficiency (mains side): ≥ 92 % (40-160 kW).
  • Interface & Software: 4.3″ touch, open Modbus TCP interface (LAN), isolated analog/digital I/Os, PC GUI, sequencer/steps editor, data logging.
