The Cinergia GE+ vAC/DC series comprises 13 models from 7.5 kW to 160 kW and offers "Same Power in AC and DC". Each device can freely specify grid characteristics such as voltage, frequency, phase angle and (inter)harmonics up to the 50th order per phase; THDi on the grid side < 3 % at cos φ > 0.98 ensures a clean feed-in. The 30 kHz control loop and extensive interference profiles (including IEC 61000-4-11/-13/-14/-28, LVRT, SEMI-F47) enable reproducible tests. Applications range from electromobility & charging infrastructure to energy storage, PV/PV emulation, smart grids and power HiL.

  • Generation of global grids: 3-phase/1-phase/split-phase, independent phase parameters incl. harmonics & ramps.
  • Disturbance & standard tests: Dips, flicker, frequency jumps, (inter-)harmonics; editor & ready-made IEC profiles (pre-compliance).
  • DC multichannel: Up to three independent bidirectional DC channels (common ground), CV/CC/CP/CR modes, battery test/emulation & PV emulation optional.
  • Regenerative & parallelizable: regenerative for energy recovery; master/slave via LWL for power/voltage increase.
  • Operation & integration: 4.3″ touch, open Modbus TCP interface (LAN), analog/digital I/Os, data acquisition.

Variant in focus: GE+ 160 vAC/DC

The GE+ 160 vAC/DC model offers a rated output of 145 kW and is the largest version in the series. It is designed for high-performance applications where maximum output currents, precise dynamics and continuous regenerative capability are required. Typical fields of application include large-scale test systems in electromobility, power electronics, energy grid research, battery development and combined AC/DC test platforms. The high control speed and accuracy enable reproducible tests under realistic grid conditions - from voltage dips and frequency jumps to complex transient profiles.

Comparison with the other models in the series

  • Power/scaling: With 145 kW rated power, the GE+ 160 vAC/DC is the top model in the series. It offers almost twice the power of the GE+ 80 and can be expanded to several hundred kilowatts via master/slave coupling.
  • Currents: The high output currents allow realistic testing of high-voltage components, power converters and charging infrastructure up to 1000 V DC. Operation remains fully regenerative and energy-efficient.
  • Design: Large cabinet version (approx. 850 × 900 × 2000 mm, ~680 kg) with powerful cooling and robust industrial design for continuous operation in the laboratory or production environment.
  • Functionality: Includes the complete range of functions of the series: grid simulation, harmonic superposition, flicker and LVRT tests, sequencer control, battery and PV emulation as well as flexible DC modes. Ideal for combined AC/DC test environments with high throughput.

  • DC output: CV (20...750 V; option up to 800 V), CC (0...± 110 % Irated), CP (0...± 200 % Prated), CR (0.1...1000 Ω); rise times typ. 1-2.5 ms.
  • Overload capacity: AC up to 200 % (2 s), 150 % (1 min), 125 % (10 min); DC up to 110 % (1 min).
  • Control & dynamics: 30 kHz control loop; small signal bandwidth up to 5 kHz (AC).
  • Efficiency (grid-side): ≥ 92 % (40-160 kW).
  • Interface & Software: 4.3″ touch, open Modbus TCP interface (LAN), isolated analog/digital I/Os, PC GUI, sequencer/steps editor, data logging.
