The programmable DC power supplies of the PFR 100 series used natural convection to remove the heat from the device. Therefore, there is no fan noise and no dust whirling up, which makes them particularly suitable for laboratory environments. They also offer a longer life cycle compared to power supplies with an integrated fan.
The PFR-100 series is a five-times nominal power supply that allows users to set either voltage or current so that the device power does not exceed 100W. The device thus offers a wide adjustable voltage or current range of a maximum of 250 V or a maximum of 2 A.
The DC voltage is available either on the front panel or on the back of the device. For rack-based measurement setups, the connections on the back of the device can be hard-wired. The overall height is 3 U with a device width of 70 mm and a weight of 2.5 kg.
As standard, the PFR 100 series has USB and RS232 / 485 interfaces with integrated web server functionality and an intuitive user interface, in addition a GPIB and a LAN interface are integrated. Using standard browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox or Android for mobile phones, the network devices can be controlled and set remotely over the Internet. It is therefore possible to program the power supply (s) independently of the laboratory location. The functions overvoltage, overcurrent and undervoltage protection can be called up remotely as well as the device serial number, device firmware and the setting parameters for the Internet connection. The output variables such as voltage and current, the rise time for current and voltage, the overcurrent protection, the switch-on delay time for the output voltage and the parameters for the integrated buzzer can also be set remotely.
A special feature : up to 31 of these PFR series power supplies can be controlled using the “ multi-drop mode ”. This saves the network switches and hubs that are otherwise required for large measuring systems.
For different measurement applications, the power supply offers various functions such as B. the regulated, constant output current (CC / Current Control / Constant Current) for components or assemblies with diode characteristics to protect them from destruction by an inrush current. A shorter output current rise time also prevents an excessive inrush current, especially with capacitive loads. When the power is off or the load is not connected, enabling the leakage circuit control enables the leakage resistor to consume the filter capacitor's electricity. Without the bleeder resistor, the filter capacitor of the power supply can still contain electricity, which is a potential hazard. This leakage resistance allows automatic test systems to quickly and safely change the DUT (device under test).
