The Cinergia EL+ vAC ePlus series is an innovative generation of regenerative, programmable electronic AC loads that precisely replicates the electrical behavior of grid consumers and generators. Their bidirectional, regenerative hardware architecture makes it possible to efficiently feed energy consumed during test operation back into the grid. This significantly reduces energy consumption and makes the series a sustainable solution for modern laboratory and test environments. With 13 models ranging from 7.5 kW to 160 kW, the series offers a wide power range and can be easily integrated into automated test systems via Modbus/TCP or Ethernet.

The EL+ vAC ePlus series is ideal for research, development and quality assurance in areas where precisely controllable AC loads with regenerative function are required. Typical areas of application are:

  • Testing and simulation of AC sources, inverters and power supply units
  • Validation of charging infrastructure and energy converters for electric vehicles
  • Simulation of grid faults, voltage dips, harmonics and transient events
  • Research in the fields of smart grids, avionics and power quality

Model description: EL+ 80 vAC

The EL+ 80 vAC is one of the most powerful models in the series and offers a rated output of 80 kW with a rated current of 116 A (three-phase). It is specially designed for industrial and academic applications where high performance, efficiency and precision are crucial. Like all models in the series, the EL+ 80 vAC uses a 4-quadrant IGBT topology that allows both energy absorption and feedback into the grid. This allows the system to precisely simulate realistic grid conditions, consumers or energy sources. With a power factor above 0.98, a THDi below 3% and an efficiency of up to 92%, the device meets the highest standards of efficiency and grid quality. The integrated 4.3″ touch display enables convenient local control, data recording and signal visualization. Alternatively, remote control is possible via Ethernet (Modbus-TCP) or RS485. In addition, analog and digital I/O interfaces are available for integration into external test and control environments. With dimensions of approx. 875 × 870 × 1320 mm and a weight of around 400 kg, the system remains compact despite its high performance and is designed for continuous operation. The master/slave function allows several devices to be operated in parallel to further increase the output power.
