The Cinergia EL+ vAC ePlus series is a powerful family of regenerative, programmable electronic AC loads designed for maximum precision and energy efficiency in test and development applications. Their bi-directional, regenerative hardware allows the energy consumed during testing to be fed back into the grid, significantly reducing overall energy consumption. With 13 models ranging from 7.5 kW to 160 kW, the series offers flexible power classes for research, teaching and industrial test fields. It can be seamlessly integrated into automated test systems via Modbus/TCP or Ethernet.

The EL+ vAC ePlus series was developed to meet the requirements of modern laboratory and development environments where variable, precisely controllable AC loads are required. Typical applications are:

  • Testing and simulation of AC sources, UPS systems and grid inverters
  • Validation of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles
  • Simulation of grid disturbances, voltage dips, transients and harmonic currents
  • Research in the fields of smart grids, avionics and power quality
  • Development and testing of energy conversion and regenerative systems

Model description: EL+ 60 vAC

The EL+ 60 vAC is a powerful model in the series that impresses with a rated power of 54 kW and a rated current of 80 A per phase (or 240 A three-channel). It combines high power reserves with a compact design and is ideal for demanding test tasks in research and industry. Like all models in the series, it is based on a 4-quadrant IGBT topology, which enables both energy consumption and feedback to the mains. The device achieves a power factor of over 0.98, a total harmonic distortion (THDi) of less than 3% and an efficiency of up to 92%. This makes the EL+ 60 vAC ideally suited for high-precision grid and load simulations. It is operated via an integrated 4.3″ touch display with an intuitive user interface for local control, data acquisition and signal visualization. The device can also be controlled remotely and integrated into test sequences via Ethernet (Modbus-TCP) or RS485. Analog and digital I/O interfaces are available for external control and hardware-in-the-loop tests. With dimensions of approx. 770 × 450 × 1100 mm and a weight of around 200 kg, the system is compact and designed for continuous operation. The master/slave function allows several devices to be operated in parallel in order to flexibly scale the output power.
