The PicoVNA series from Pico offers compact vector network analyzers that combine very high measurement accuracy with outstanding cost efficiency.
These instruments are widely used in development, production, and service environments and, due to their low investment cost, are increasingly found in university and technical training programs.
Many VNAs either lack integrated bias-Ts or offer them only as costly options. The PicoVNA models include built-in bias-Ts that can be used as DC bias or stimulus sources for testing active components, eliminating the need for separate DC blocks and reducing setup complexity and cost. Bias power is supplied from an external current/voltage source (max. 250 mA, ±15 V) connected to the SMB jack located beside each VNA port. (Graphic in German)
The PicoVNA can be programmed and controlled via its USB interface. Despite its compact form and low cost, the instrument employs a true four-receiver (Quad RX) architecture that removes typical errors found in three-receiver designs with internal switching paths, such as signal delay effects.
The PicoVNA 108 enables fully automated calibration in accordance with published specifications using E-Cal modules with SMA male or female connectors.
The modules are powered and controlled via USB to electronically select the required short, open, load, and thru reference standards during the calibration process. Once powered, the E-Cal standard is connected between the PicoVNA test ports, and the automated calibration is initiated via the PicoVNA 108 user interface.
Each E-Cal module is supplied in a transport and storage case containing a fully characterized, polarized connector adapter. This allows calibration of both male and female SMA devices, including plug-in male-to-female and female-to-male test interfaces.
This video demonstrates the capabilities of the intuitive user interface in the new PicoVNA 5 software. PicoVNA 5 has been completely redesigned as a modern control application for the PicoVNA vector network analyzers.
Live, continuously updated time-domain displays and measurements can be defined across any number of viewports and parameters.
A unique feature of PicoVNA 5 is the ability to create and configure multiple independent workspaces — each with its own user settings, frequency ranges, views, measurements, de-embeds, and calibrations.
