NRP18TN | Thermal power sensor, 300 nW - 100 mW, DC - 18 GHz, LAN (Thermal Power Sensor) (1424.6121.02)

Thermal power sensors are used in particular for complex measurement tasks that require maximum accuracy. They tolerate any kind of modulation.

To improve measurement accuracy, the hardware of the thermal power sensors NRPxxT (N) / TWG FROM Rohde & Schwarz is designed in such a way that measurement noise is reduced to a minimum and the sensor is immune to thermal environmental influences. In order to achieve stable measurement results, the temperature in the thermal measuring cell must match the applied power. If the power is increased, the sophisticated measuring cell of the thermal power sensors R&S NRPxxT (N) / TWG quickly reaches a stable temperature. If the output is reduced, the excess heat is quickly dissipated.

Measurement uncertainties result to a large extent from multiple reflections at the source and power sensor, which are caused by mismatches. In order to minimize these reflections, all thermal power sensors in the Rohde & Schwarz NRP family are perfectly matched up to high frequencies and thus reduce measurement uncertainty.
