U8487A | USB power sensor with thermocouple, 10 MHz to 50 GHz

The U8487A power measuring head belongs to the series of U8480 RF power sensors that can be connected directly via the USB interface of a PC. In this way, the HF power can be measured without additional power measuring devices. The U8487A has a frequency range from 10 MHz to 50 GHz and a dynamic range from -35 dBm to +20 dBm. The measuring principle is a thermocouple that precisely measures the RF power consumed in the 10 MHz to 50 GHz frequency range with a linearity of 0.8% over the entire dynamic range at an ambient temperature range of 0 ° C to 55 ° C.

The included BenchVue software (30-day test version) turns your PC in connection with the USB interface with the U8487A measuring head into a power meter with which very fast and precise RF power measurements can be carried out. The measurement results can be made visible on the PC in real time. Overall, the measuring times are significantly reduced with this measuring head.

S-parameter and gamma correction
With the S-parameter and gamma correction, a significantly better accuracy is achieved if one compensates for the impedance mismatch and errors by introducing components between the DUT and the HF measuring head.
