The GW Instek GDM-500 Series handheld multimeters (DMM) are compact, high-precision, battery-powered multimeters designed specifically to meet the needs of service technicians. The design of the GDM-500 multimeters is geared towards mobile applications: automatic switch-off to save battery power, a large backlit display for clear reading, a rotary switch and pushbuttons for ease of use, and an NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) function for outdoor use.

The basic functions of handheld multimeters are in no way inferior to those of benchtop multimeters: fused current input, true RMS for accurate AC measurements, acoustic/visual overload alarm, auto-ranging, duty cycle and relative mode.
