The EL+ vHF series is a family of advanced, regenerative electronic load systems specifically designed for avionics and aerospace applications. It realistically simulates electrical loads in high-frequency power grids from 360-900 Hz and enables precise, reproducible tests with minimal energy consumption thanks to its regenerative architecture.
General features
- Bidirectional & regenerative: simultaneous energy consumption and feedback into the grid with high efficiency.
- Excellent power quality: THDi < 3 % and power factor > 0.98 at rated power.
- HF capability 360-900 Hz: ideal for simulating 400 Hz systems in airplanes and variable frequency.
- Scalable power range: models from 15 kW to 50 kW, can be operated in parallel for higher powers.
- High dynamics & precision: harmonic generation up to 50th order, fast response to transients, fast response to transients and high power. order, fast response to transients, independent phase control.
- Flexible operating modes: constant current (CC), constant power/apparent power (CP/CS), impedance (CZ), interference and profile tests with high resolution.
- User-friendly control: 4.3" touch, Modbus TCP/Ethernet, optional analog/digital interfaces, LabVIEW compatible.
- Master/slave system: simple parallel connection of devices via fiber optic communication.
- Safety & protection functions: emergency stop, interlock, configurable alarms and limit values.
The EL+ vHF series is used in test benches for aircraft power systems, in the simulation of avionics consumers, in performance tests of generators and inverters as well as in grid qualification and EMC analyses. It is the ideal platform for research, development and end-of-line testing in the field of variable frequency systems.
Model in focus: EL+40 vHF
The EL+40 vHF is the powerful upper mid-range model in the series and, with 40 kW rated power, offers an ideal combination of high current carrying capacity, precise control and efficient energy recovery. It was developed for applications that require stable and reproducible high-load tests - especially for aircraft generators, power converters and 400 Hz system simulations.
Power data & suitability
- Nominal power: 40 kW
- Nominal AC current (rms): 52 A (3-channel) / 156 A (1-channel)
- Dimensions (W×D×H): 450 × 770 × 1100 mm
- Weight: approx. 190 kg
- HF range: 360-900 Hz (identical for all models in the series)
Comparison within the series
The EL+40 vHF closes the gap between the EL+30 vHF (27 kW) and the EL+50 vHF (50 kW). It offers the same range of functions as the entire series, but with a significantly larger power reserve. This makes it ideal for applications that go beyond medium power levels but do not yet require 50 kW.
- Advantages: higher load capacity with compact dimensions - ideal solution for demanding test benches.
- Identical platform features: same software, frequency bandwidth and control modes as all EL+ vHF devices.
- Expandability: several devices can be combined in master/slave mode to form a system with up to 320 kW.
