The Chauvin Arnoux Metrix MTX3297EX is an advanced intrinsically safe TRMS digital multimeter specially designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Thanks to its ATEX and IECEx certification, the device is approved for use in the highest risk levels, including zones containing explosive gases (IIC: zones 0, 1 and 2) and dusts (IIIC: zones 20, 21 and 22). These certifications make it ideal for use in the petroleum and chemical industries, the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in mining.

Technical features of the MTX3297EX:

  1. Versatile measurement functions:
    • Voltage measurements: The MTX3297EX offers high precision in voltage measurements with a range of 0.001 mV to 1000 V for both DC and AC voltages. The accuracy is 0.05% + 25 digits, which enables very precise measurements, even in demanding environments.
    • Current measurements: The multimeter can measure currents in the range of 0.01 µA to 10 A, for both DC and AC current. For higher currents, the device can be used with external current transformers that enable measurements up to 6000 A.
    • Frequency: The MTX3297EX supports frequency measurements up to 200 kHz, making it particularly versatile for various applications.
  2. High accuracy and analysis functions:
    • The multimeter offers advanced diagnostic functions such as MIN/MAX values, peak measurements (Peak+, Peak-) and relative measurements (ΔREL). A low-pass filter is also integrated, which is specifically designed for measuring PWM (pulse width modulation) signals.
    • VLowZ mode: This function is particularly useful for measuring low-impedance AC voltages to better detect and avoid stray voltages.
  3. Ergonomic and robust design:
    • The device is equipped with a dual LCD display that shows up to 60,000 digits and has a three-level backlight, which improves readability in different environments.
    • Durability: With an IP67 protection rating, the MTX3297EX is both dust and waterproof, making it ideal for use in extreme conditions. The robust housing protects the device from shocks and drops, making it reliable even in harsh environments.
  4. Energy efficiency and ease of use:
    • Operation is via four ATEX-approved AA/FR6 Li-FeS2 batteries, which allow a runtime of up to 350 hours. This reduces the need for frequent battery changes and ensures uninterrupted use in long measurement campaigns.
  5. Connectivity and data processing:
    • The MTX3297EX has an isolated optical interface, which in combination with the free SX-DMM software enables real-time data evaluation as well as remote control of the device. This makes the analysis and documentation of the measurement data much easier.
