The basic version of this combination device N9950A is equipped as a cable and antenna test device and covers the frequency range from 300 kHz to 32 GHz. This combination device is intended for rough field use in its basic configuration for cable and antenna measurements. This FieldFox N9950A can optionally be expanded as a spectrum and vector network analyzer, thus enabling direct transmission and reflection measurements S11, S21. The integrated HF power measurement option offers measurement of the HF signal power at the push of a button over a bandwidth that can be defined by the user. With an optional extension, USB power sensors can also be connected directly. By using USB peak power sensors, the pulse peak power and the average power can be measured on radar systems in order to have the ratio of peak power to average power displayed directly.

With optional configuration options , the system can be expanded into a 2-port S-parameter test system, which means that all S-parameters can be measured. With additional optional and retrofittable equipment, the device can be adapted to the respective application with many other options (see list at the end of this description).
It should be emphasized that this device can be equipped with a tracking generator covering the entire frequency range of the device.
