N9918B | FieldFox 30 kHz - 26.5 GHz Microwave Analyzer

The Keysight FieldFox B series combines cable & antenna tester (CAT), vector network analyzer (VNA) and spectrum analyzer (SA) in one robust, battery-operated handheld device. The analyzers are designed for field use: shockproof, dustproof and splashproof, with a large display that is easy to read in sunlight, large buttons (can also be operated with gloves) and a field-swappable battery for several hours of measurement operation. Thanks to CalReady, the device is ready to measure as soon as it is switched on; optional ECal modules speed up precise calibrations. Software options such as Real-Time Spectrum Analysis (RTSA) up to 120 MHz, IQ Analyzer/Streaming, Noise Figure, Pulse Measurements, EMF/EMI and OTA Measurements (LTE/5G NR) are available for demanding applications. Typical applications include installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of mobile radio, SAT, radar, broadcast, WLAN and industrial RF systems - from cable termination to filters/amplifiers and over-the-air analysis.

The N9918B is the top model of the N991xB series within the FieldFox B family and covers an operating frequency range from 30 kHz to 26.5 GHz. It combines maximum measurement flexibility with maximum bandwidth and is designed for applications that extend into the upper Ku-band - such as satcom, radar, 5G and microwave system tests. Compared to the N9917B (up to 18 GHz), the N9918B offers extended frequency coverage up to 26.5 GHz, making it the optimal choice for users who want to characterize high-frequency components, microwave links or broadband signals in the upper spectrum. The range of functions, operation and variety of options correspond completely to the series; the only difference is the maximum frequency range. This makes the N9918B the most powerful model of the N991xB combination analyzers and offers maximum precision with maximum mobility.

  • Meter combination: CAT (DTF/TDR, RL/VSWR, cable & insertion loss), full 2-port VNA (S-parameter), spectrum analyzer with optional RTSA.
  • Frequency ranges depending on model: from 30 kHz to 26.5 GHz (N9912B to N9918B); the N9918B covers the maximum range of the N991xB series.
  • Ruggedized design: for field use (-10 ... +55 °C), shock/vibration resistant; dust and splash-proof design.
  • Mobile & ergonomic: approx. 3.3 kg, large transflective display, large buttons, glove-operated, replaceable battery (several hours running time).
  • High measurement accuracy: InstAlign for very good amplitude accuracy in the SA, CalReady immediately after switching on; support for USB ECal modules.
  • Flexible analysis: Options for RTSA (up to 120 MHz real-time BW), IQ acquisition/streaming, noise figure, pulse and EMC measurements, OTA (LTE/5G), channel scanner, interference/spectral monitoring.
  • VNA performance: wide IF-BW range, fine dots (up to 10 001), flat output power, comprehensive calibration procedures (including Unknown Thru, QSOLT, TRL).
  • Interfaces & GPS: USB & LAN, external Ref/Trigger, optional integrated GNSS, support for external USB power sensors and built-in power meter (option).
  • Software ecosystem: Connection to PathWave 89600 VSA, Keysight Surveyor/Spectrum Management and others. etc.; remote control via SCPI.
  • Accessories & upgrades: numerous field upgrades via license key (tracking generator, preamplifier, TDR, time-gating, phased array support, etc.).
