The compact AP5001A RF Analog Signal Generator from Keysight generates precise signals in the RF range and is characterized by its versatility in the characterization of devices. The model offers a frequency range from 9 kHz up to a choice of 2, 4 or 6.1 GHz, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in the radio frequency range. The output power level ranges from -30 to +17 dBm, but can be extended to -120 to +17 dBm with the AP5001A-1E1 option. Particularly noteworthy are the phase noise values at 1 GHz, which are -128 dBc/Hz (typically -130 dBc/Hz) and therefore guarantee very pure signals. The device also has various modulation options, including AM, FM, PM, pulse modulation and frequency chirps.
An important difference to the AP5002A Microwave Analog Signal Generator lies in the frequency coverage: the AP5002A covers higher frequencies, with options from 9 kHz up to 12, 20 or even 26 GHz (30 GHz adjustable). This makes the AP5002A particularly attractive for applications in the microwave range. In addition, the AP5002A offers improved output power in the range from -20 to +15 dBm (extendable to -120 to +23 dBm with the AP5002A-1E1/ AP5002A-1EA options). The AP5002A also shows better values in the area of non-harmonic interference with -65 dBc, typically even -75 dBc, while the AP5001A is at -55 dBc here.
Both models share a compact and portable design with a weight of less than 2.5 kg and a calibration interval of 24 months. They offer a high switching speed (the AP5001A requires 200 µs, the AP5002A 300 µs) and are versatile tools for testing RF and microwave devices.
The AP5001A is ideal for applications in the RF range up to 6.1 GHz, while the AP5002A is suitable for higher frequencies and more demanding microwave applications.
