The Gossen Metrawatt COIL Adapter XTRA Z270M enables semi-automatic interturn short circuit measurement in connection with the following multimeters:

  • METRAHIT IN THE XTRA
  • METRAHIT IN THE E-DRIVE

If there is a problem with an electric machine, it can have an electrical or mechanical cause. Electrically, these are faults in the windings or the control or electronics. With the insulation resistance measurement, insulation faults between the windings and the housing are detected. The easiest way to identify shorted turns within a winding is to compare the electrical properties of the windings of multi-phase machines with one another. With the METRAHIT IM XTRA or E-DRIVE and the COIL Adapter XTRA, this is done with a surge voltage of 1000 V, a so-called surge test. This also reliably detects errors that only occur when the operating voltage is applied.
