The non-contact measurement of rotational speeds is an important part of modern maintenance and servicing processes. Laser tachometers enable reliable measurements on rotating parts without direct contact with the machine. In conjunction with mobile data acquisition, measured values can not only be displayed, but also documented, analyzed and used for condition assessments.

Typical areas of application include the maintenance and inspection of fans, motors, production facilities, HVAC systems, wind turbines and testing and counting applications in manufacturing. Wireless transmission to mobile devices allows trends to be identified, limit values to be monitored and reports to be generated directly on site.

The Extech RPM250W is a compact, non-contact laser speed meter with an integrated Bluetooth interface. Measured values can be displayed directly on the large, illuminated LCD or transmitted wirelessly to smartphones and tablets with iOS or Android. In conjunction with the free ExView app, data can be saved, evaluated and exported as a CSV or PDF report including photos of the measuring point.

The laser enables reliable RPM measurements from a distance of up to 500 mm. The device also has a counter function up to 99,999 and data hold to freeze the measured value. Programmable alarm functions, trend display and the ability to connect several compatible measuring devices simultaneously make the RPM250W a powerful tool for condition-based maintenance. An integrated tripod thread ensures stable measurements for long-term or series testing.
