When commissioning and maintaining base stations, a quick overview of modulation properties, performance of the code channels and signal quality is necessary.
The Rohde & Schwarz FSH-K44 option demodulates 3GPP-WCDMA base station signals for detailed analysis. In addition to the overall performance, it measures the performance of the most important code channels such as Common Pilot Channel (CPICH), Primary Common Control Physical Channel (P-CCPCH) and Primary and Secondary Synchronization Channel (P-SCH and S-SCH).
It also shows the frequency offset of the carrier frequency and the EVM value (Error Vector Magnitude), which allows conclusions to be drawn about the signal quality. The value of EC / I0 (ratio of energy per chip to interference) provides information about the signal-to-noise ratio. The scrambling code can be determined at the push of a button and automatically used for decoding the code channels. For a quick overview of neighboring base stations, the Rohde & Schwarz FSH displays up to eight scrambling codes with the associated CPICH performance.
With the isotropic antennas of the Rohde & Schwarz TS-EMF measuring system, the Rohde & Schwarz FSH ‑ K44 option can also be used to measure the electrical field strength of the WCDMA signal.
