The Cinergia GE+ vAC/DC series comprises 13 models from 7.5 kW to 160 kW and offers "Same Power in AC and DC". Each device can freely specify grid characteristics such as voltage, frequency, phase angle and (inter)harmonics up to the 50th order per phase; THDi on the grid side < 3 % at cos φ > 0.98 ensures a clean feed-in. The 30 kHz control loop and extensive interference profiles (including IEC 61000-4-11/-13/-14/-28, LVRT, SEMI-F47) enable reproducible tests. Applications range from electromobility & charging infrastructure to energy storage, PV/PV emulation, smart grids and power HiL.

  • Generation of global grids: 3-phase/1-phase/split-phase, independent phase parameters incl. harmonics & ramps.
  • Disturbance & standard tests: Dips, flicker, frequency jumps, (inter-)harmonics; editor & ready-made IEC profiles (pre-compliance).
  • DC multichannel: Up to three independent bidirectional DC channels (common ground), CV/CC/CP/CR modes, battery test/emulation & PV emulation optional.
  • Regenerative & parallelizable: regenerative for energy recovery; master/slave via LWL for power/voltage increase.
  • Operation & integration: 4.3″ touch, open Modbus TCP interface (LAN), analog/digital I/Os, data acquisition.

Variant in focus: GE+ 15 vAC/DC

The GE+ 15 vAC/DC model offers a rated power of 15 kW and combines high precision with increased current and performance for more demanding testing and development tasks. In AC mode, the device delivers up to 22 A (3-channel mode) or 66 A (1-channel parallel mode). In DC mode, ±22 A (3-channel) or ±66 A (1-channel) are available. This makes the GE+ 15 vAC/DC ideal for testing DC/DC converters, smaller inverters, chargers or battery systems in the medium power range. Thanks to its regenerative architecture with high efficiency, the device is ideal for both endurance tests and dynamic grid simulations in the laboratory.

Comparison with the other models in the series

  • Power/scaling: The GE+ 15 vAC/DC is at the top end of the compact desktop and rack devices. Compared to the 10 kW model, it offers 50 % more output power with the same functionality. Models from 20 kW are already suitable for large-format system tests.
  • Currents: At 22/66 A (AC) or ±22/±66 A (DC), the GE+ 15 vAC/DC offers significant current reserves compared to smaller variants - ideal for applications with transient load profiles.
  • Design: Despite the higher power, the design remains compact (approx. 770 × 450 × 1100 mm at ~190 kg), which enables easy integration into laboratory or rack environments.
  • Functionality: All standard functions of the series are included - including grid simulation, (inter)harmonic generation, disturbance profiles and DC test modes. Battery emulation and PV emulation are optionally available.

  • DC output: CV (20...750 V; option up to 800 V), CC (0...± 110 % Irated), CP (0...± 200 % Prated), CR (0.1...1000 Ω); rise times typ. 1-2.5 ms.
  • Overload capacity: AC up to 200 % (2 s), 150 % (1 min), 125 % (10 min); DC up to 110 % (1 min).
  • Control & dynamics: 30 kHz control loop; small signal bandwidth up to 5 kHz (AC).
  • Efficiency (mains side): ≥ 91 % (15-30 kW), ≥ 92 % (40-160 kW).
  • Interface & Software: 4.3″ touch, open Modbus TCP interface (LAN), isolated analog/digital I/Os, PC GUI, sequencer/steps editor, data logging.
