The EL+ vHF/DC ePlus series from CINERGIA is a high-precision family of bidirectional, regenerative electronic loads specially designed for use in the avionics sector. It enables realistic simulations of aircraft power grids in the frequency range of 360-900 Hz and supports both AC and DC test applications.

The regenerative technology allows energy to be fed back into the grid during test operation, which lowers operating costs and reduces the environmental footprint. Typical areas of application are:

  • Testing aircraft generators with variable frequency and different power factors
  • Simulation of electrical loads and power supply units in the avionics sector
  • Programming of complex power, current or impedance profiles
  • Generation and analysis of harmonics and distortion profiles up to the 50th harmonic

Focus on the EL20+ vHF/DC variant

The EL20+ vHF/DC is the balanced mid-range model in the series and, with 20 kW nominal power, offers an ideal ratio of power reserve, dynamics and efficiency. It is particularly suitable for medium-sized avionics test systems, generators with higher power requirements or multi-channel setups with realistic current consumption.

  • AC (EL-HF): 26 A RMS per phase in 3-channel operation or 78 A RMS in 1-channel operation
  • DC: ±25 A (3-channel) or ±75 A (1-channel)
  • Frequency range: 360-900 Hz in high-frequency mode
  • Backfeed capable: Energy feed into the grid with >90 % efficiency

This variant combines compact design with high power density and is therefore ideal for test laboratories, test benches and universal development environments that require flexible load profiles with constant precision.

Comparison with the other models

The EL+ vHF/DC series comprises five power levels. The EL20+ is positioned between the compact EL15+ and the more powerful EL30+, while retaining the same range of functions of the entire series:

  • EL15+ vHF/DC: 15 kW, AC 20/60 A, DC ±20/±60 A - ideal for smaller test systems
  • EL20+ vHF/DC: 20 kW, AC 26/78 A, DC ±25/±75 A - universal mid-range
  • EL30+ vHF/DC: 27 kW, AC 40/120 A, DC ±30/±90 A - for higher currents and large loads
  • EL40+ vHF/DC: 40 kW, AC 52/156 A, DC ±40/±120 A - for multi-channel test environments
  • EL50+ vHF/DC: 50 kW, AC 65/195 A, DC ±50/±150 A - maximum power and scalability

The EL20+ offers noticeably more power reserves and flexibility compared to the EL15+ with almost identical dimensions. Compared to the EL30+, it is more energy-efficient, lighter and requires less mains power - an advantage for laboratories with limited infrastructure.
