P5001B | Vector Network Analyzer, 9 kHz to 6.5 GHz, 2-port, with Thunderbolt 3 interface

The P50xxB series combines precise vector network analysis with a compact form factor for PC-connected operation via Thunderbolt. It is suitable for research, development and production - from the characterization of passive components, connectors, cables and filters to amplifiers and mixers/frequency converters. Optional software functions (e.g. spectrum analysis, pulse RF, TDR) turn the VNA into a versatile RF measurement platform.

The VNA Keysight P5001B presented here is the 2-port model of the P500xB family with a frequency range from 9 kHz to 6.5 GHz. This means it addresses sub-6 GHz applications with additional frequency range compared to the P5000B (up to 4.5 GHz) - ideal for WLAN at 2.4/5 GHz, Bluetooth, GNSS and mobile radio/5G FR1 (up to 6 GHz), for example. The P5001B combines high dynamic range with very low trace noise for precise S-parameter measurements on filters, matching networks and amplifiers. The series also includes an extension of the maximum frequency via P5002B/P5003B/P5004B (9/14/20 GHz) up to the high-frequency variants P5005B-P5008B (26.5/32/44/53 GHz). If you need more measurement ports, we recommend the P502xB models with 4-port up to 53 GHz or 6-port up to 20 GHz.

Technical highlights of the P50xxB series

  • Port options: 2-port (P500xB), 4-/6-port (P502xB); 2-/4-port up to 53 GHz, 6-port up to 20 GHz.
  • Frequency coverage depending on model: 9 kHz up to 4.5/6.5/9/14/20 GHz and 100 kHz up to 26.5/32/44/53 GHz.
  • System dynamic range: typically up to 150 dB in the lower GHz range (depending on model/frequency) for reliable measurements even on highly attenuating DUTs.
  • Maximum output power: up to +13 dBm (typical, up to 4.5 GHz); decreasing at higher frequencies - ideal for linear excitation and good SNR.
  • Very low trace noise: Magnitude typ. 0.0005 dB rms (with suitable IF bandwidth) for high-precision results.
  • Fine frequency resolution & accuracy: Resolution 1 Hz; frequency accuracy typ. in the ppm range.
  • Level accuracy: typ. up to ±0.2 dB (up to 15 GHz) for reproducible power and gain measurements.
  • Robust inputs: permissible damage level +27 dBm or ±35 V DC.
  • Connectivity & references: Thunderbolt 3/4 (USB4) to host PC, 10 MHz Ref-In/Out, additional USB-A ports for peripherals.
  • Multi-port measurements: Connection of two basic devices with Y1701A interconnect cable kits.
  • Compact & lightweight: Width 176 mm, depth 333 mm; height 48 mm (2-port) or 68 mm (4-/6-port); 2-port from approx. 1.9 kg - ideal for laboratory, production and mobile applications.
  • Parallel tests (multi-site): up to two independent VNA instances per PC for higher throughput.
  • Expandable via software: spectrum analysis (S97090xB), pulse RF (S97024xB/S97025xB), extended time domain analysis with TDR (S97011B).
