The Cinergia EL AC/DC SiC-RS rack series is a highly dynamic, bidirectional test platform for research, validation and end-of-line test benches. Thanks to state-of-the-art SiC power semiconductors, it offers very high efficiency, short switching times and a compact 19" design (7U). The devices operate in four quadrants as a regenerative AC electronic load and as a regenerative DC source/sink - including feeding energy back into the grid to reduce operating and installation costs.
Typical applications
- Electromobility: EVSE/OBC tests (AC/DC), V2G/V2X scenarios, charging logic & communication
- Smart grids & DER: Grid emulation, grid recovery, load flow and quality tests
- Energy Storage & Battery: Battery tests, cycles and emulation (multi-channel)
- Power HiL/PHiL: Use as a power amplifier with low delay
- Photovoltaics: PV string/panel emulation with irradiance/temperature profiles
- Aerospace & industry: R&D, verification and EoL test benches
Operation & integration
The series relies on a 7" touch user interface for local control (start/stop, sequences, plotting & data logging). Open MODBUS/TCP, analog/digital I/Os (BNC/DB15) and master/slave operation are available for integration into test benches. The 19" rack-compatible design (depth approx. 715 mm) enables easy integration into existing test environments.
Model focus: EL 30 AC/DC SiC-RS
The EL 30 is the most powerful model in the compact rack series and is aimed at demanding test applications that require higher power reserves or longer load profiles - without compromising on precision or efficiency.
- Nominal power: 30 kVA/kW (AC/DC)
- Nominal current: 44 Arms (AC), ±44 A per DC channel
- Shape & Weight: 7U (approx. 715 × 440 × 310 mm), approx. 50 kg
- Channel configuration (DC): 3× unipolar (2Q) independent or 1× bipolar (4Q)
- Operating modes: AC-CC/CP/Impedance (CZ) incl. harmonic tests; DC-CV/CC/CP/CR; optional battery test/emu and PV emu
- Regeneration: full regeneration with very high efficiency
- Grid side: 3×400 V~ (option 3×480 V~), PF > 0.98, THDi < 2 % at rated power

Conclusion: The EL 30 offers the same compact design and flexibility as the EL 22.5, but delivers 33 % more output power. This makes it ideal for applications where longer or more intensive load cycles are required - for example in e-mobility development or grid simulation.
