The XJQuad from XJTAG is a high-performance USB-to-JTAG controller with four test ports, designed specifically for use in electronics manufacturing. This compact test system allows up to four printed circuit boards or devices under test to be tested and programmed simultaneously. Each port can be used independently or started together for a synchronized test sequence.
Each of the four ports can control a separate device under test with up to four JTAG chains. This makes the XJQuad particularly well-suited for production lines where high throughput, short test times, and reproducible test results are required. The device executes test projects created with XJDeveloper and combines, among other features, connectivity testing, in-system programming, testing of components without their own JTAG interface, as well as serial number management and configurable log files.
Typical applications include the automated testing of assembled printed circuit boards, functional tests within manufacturing and end-of-line test stations, the rapid programming of flash memory, as well as fault diagnosis and quality assurance in mass production. Since fully tested assemblies can be swapped out at individual ports while the remaining tests continue, the XJQuad supports a particularly efficient and continuous production process.
Configurable pin assignments, adjustable signal voltages, automatic propagation delay correction, and variable signal terminations allow for flexible adaptation to different PCB designs, cable configurations, and JTAG chains. The required XJTAG license is stored directly in the device, allowing the test system to be used without being tied to a specific control PC.
