The channels of the digital I / O module sbRIO ‑ 9401 can be configured as inputs or outputs in steps of 4 bits. This means that the sbRIO ‑ 9401 can be programmed for three configurations: eight digital inputs, eight digital outputs or four digital inputs and four digital outputs. Reconfigurable I / O technology (CompactRIO only) enables users to use the LabVIEW FPGA Module to program the sbRIO-9401 and implement custom high-speed counters / timers, digital communication protocols, pulse generation, and other applications. Each channel has transient isolation between the I / O channels and the backplane. Modules without a housing are designed for OEM applications.
