The USB‑485 interface provides an asynchronous serial port instead of a USB port to enable communication with devices equipped with RS‑485 and RS‑422 interfaces. The USB 485 port can be used within applications as a standard serial port, including for RTS/CTS hardware handshake lines. NI serial interfaces appear as standard COM ports, so compatibility with programs is ensured that use serial communication.
