The XJTAG ISO-0010 XJIsolator Board provides electrical isolation between a device under test (DUT) and the connected XJTAG hardware. This protects the test system, the device under test, and the operating environment from unwanted potential differences and electrical interference. Despite its compact dimensions, the module supports isolation voltages of up to 443 Vrms in continuous operation and enables a JTAG clock frequency of up to 50 MHz.
The board is connected directly between the XJLink or XJLink2 and the device under test. Due to its small form factor, it is suitable for use on a lab bench as well as for permanent integration into test adapters and automated test equipment. In addition, it can be combined with other XJTAG hardware such as the XJExtender and XJXDP.
Eight electrically isolated signal channels are available. Six of these channels are intended for communication from the XJLink to the device under test, and two channels are intended for return signals from the device under test to the XJLink. Typical JTAG signals such as TDI, TMS, and TCK can be transmitted via the downlink channels, while TDO, for example, is returned via an uplink channel. The low unidirectional signal propagation delay of typically 8 ns supports fast and reliable test sequences.
The I/O voltage can be adjusted to logic levels ranging from 1.8 to 3.3 V by default. With appropriate hardware configuration, operation with 5-V I/O signals is also possible. The ISO-0010 requires only an external power supply referenced to the DUT’s ground. Optionally, the module can supply the DUT with up to 100 mA via the DUT connector. Status LEDs indicate the power supply status and whether the outputs are enabled. The isolation module operates transparently with the XJTAG software, so that no changes to existing tests are required with a suitable pin configuration.
