The GE&EL 22.5 AC/DC SiC-RS is part of the latest generation of the Cinergia rack series and combines three fully-fledged power functions in a single device: AC mains simulator, AC electronic load and bi-directional DC source/sink. The new RS platform relies on state-of-the-art SiC power electronics with significantly increased dynamics, higher efficiency and a further improved user interface.
General features of the series
- 3-in-1 solution: AC grid simulator, AC electronic load and DC bidirectional source/sink in a single device.
- SiC technology: Higher switching frequencies, lower losses, faster transients and optimized efficiency.
- Regenerative: Energy is fully fed back into the grid, significantly reducing energy consumption and heat generation.
- Easily integrated: Analogue/digital I/Os, Modbus TCP via Ethernet, master/slave function.
- New 7-inch touch display: Improved operation, direct access to all test functions, logging & plots without PC.
- Powerful mixed-mode architecture: AC and DC functions can be used in parallel (not simultaneously as GE and EL, but via completely separate DC channels).
- 19″ rack format: Compact 7U height, only 50 kg - ideal for test benches with limited space requirements.
- Made in Europe: CE, IEC 61010-1, EN 61326-1, ROHS & REACH.
Special features
- Extremely high efficiency in source and regeneration direction, optimized by modern SiC MOSFET technology.
- Advanced noise generator functions: Flicker, dips, inter- and subharmonics, harmonics up to 5 kHz.
- Separate DC channels: Three independent unipolar DC channels or a bipolar 4-quadrant DC operation.
- Optimized for modern applications: Specially designed for EV tests, smart grid simulations, ESS tests and PHiL environments.
- Integrated test editor for automated test sequences and repeatable validations.
- Advanced logging functions directly on the device, export as CSV.
Possible applications
- Electromobility: EVSE tests, OBC validation, V2G/V2X scenarios, AC and DC charging technology.
- Smart Grids & Microgrids: simulation of the supply grid, inverter tests, emulation of consumers and DER systems.
- Renewables & energy storage: Charge/discharge cycles, battery tests, ESS validation.
- PHiL environments: Use as a high-performance AC/DC power amplifier with very short delay times.
- Industry & Aerospace: Quality testing, end-of-line testing and simulation of demanding operating scenarios.
Model focus: GE&EL 22.5 AC/DC SiC-RS
The GE&EL 22.5 is the more compact model in the RS series and delivers 22.5 kVA/kW with a maximum current of ±44 A per channel. The new RS platform offers significantly higher-performance AC control, extended harmonics functions and an even more precise DC multichannel design. This makes the 22.5 model ideal for laboratory and test environments that require high precision, dynamics and efficiency, but do not require 30 kW power.
This variant comes without a transformer.
Comparison within the series
- GE&EL 22.5: 22.5 kW/kVA, identical interfaces and functions as the 30 kW model, but lower power reserve - ideal for medium power requirements.
- GE&EL 30: 30 kW/kVA, more power reserve for more demanding conditions or larger test specimens; same size and weight.
Technical product features of the series:
- Input (grid-side): 3×400 V + N + PE (optional 3×480 V), 47-63 Hz; THDi <2%; PF >0.98; efficiency >93.5%.
- AC output (GE & EL): 3-phase + N; 4-quadrant operation; 3-channel or 1-channel configuration; 10-400 Hz fundamental frequency; THDv <0.2%; harmonics up to 5 kHz; CV/CC/CP/CS/CZ depending on operating mode.
- DC output: 0-800 V unipolar (3× 2-quadrant) or ±380 V bipolar (4-quadrant); modes: CV/CC/CP/CR; optional battery test, battery emulation, PV panel emulation.
