The Keysight (formerly Agilent's electronic measurement technology) current sample N2821A for oscilloscopes can be equipped with precise, interchangeable measuring resistors in order to measure very small currents. This single-channel current sample has an input amplifier with a gain of 1000: 1 (60 dB). Current curves from a minimum of 50 μA up to 5 A can be recorded depending on the measuring resistor used.
The exchangeable, precise measuring resistor is fixed in the sample head, where the amplifier is also positioned. 3 different resistor heads N2822A, N2824A and N2825A are available, which can be used in the sample head. The gain of the sample is 1000: 1 or 60 dB.
This combination of measurements is used for the investigation of input / output currents of ICs, for the investigation of the current consumption of mobile devices or for the control of the charging currents or circuits for mobile devices.
The samples are contacted by connecting them to the measuring points by cables. So that there is no need to solder in the circuit, plugs and connector pins are available. Only a 0.1 "hole spacing has to be provided in the layout in order to be able to solder or plug in the connector pins. Keysight (formerly Agilent's electronic measurement technology) calls this MBB (Make-Before-Break) what a simple interruption / connection At the same time, this contacting is very space-saving, advantageous for tightly packed circuit boards and small circuit boards, such as those used in mobile devices.
