E36150ATMU | Automotive Standards Testing Capabilities with Enhanced Programming Speed & Preset Waveforms for Power Supplies E36150 Series

Electronic components used in automotive applications must be resistant to the harsh conditions of the power supply systems in which they operate. Voltage spikes and sags in the power supply are commonplace, which is why manufacturers of automotive electronics are required to design and thoroughly validate their products to ensure optimal operation even under such conditions.

Test specifications based on ISO standards such as ISO 16750 and ISO 7637 have been developed to simulate some of the power transients encountered in automotive applications, and compliance with these standards is required for quality assurance.

The E36150 series now supports a new upgrade option, E36150ATMU, which allows you to quickly generate complex current transients specified in the ISO standards and beyond. This option simplifies the validation of your product design throughout the entire development cycle, thereby minimizing the risk of development setbacks.

Please note: Only E36150 series devices with a serial number of MY63000000 or higher can be upgraded with the E36150ATMU option.

The E36150ATMU upgrade option offers these four new features:

• Improved programming speed—up to 7.5 times faster—to support the rapid voltage drops and rises required for some power transient simulations.

• Integrated library with preset ISO values for the automotive industry (requires both E36150ATMU and E36150ADVU). The library includes up to seven waveforms—including the startup profile, reset behavior, motor regeneration, load shedding, etc.—derived from the ISO standard. The library allows users to easily load the ISO waveform without tedious manual initial programming, while also offering them the flexibility to easily navigate the various segments of the waveforms and adjust the settings via the intuitive built-in user interface to suit their test case application.

• Playback simulation with “Constant Dwell Arb”. Import and output complex waveforms with up to 10,000 “Constant Dwell” setpoints. This feature goes a step beyond mere compliance with the ISO standard and allows you to capture the actual performance conditions in the real vehicle system in which your device under test (DUT) is operated, using an oscilloscope in CSV format, and then replay them in the lab with your E36150 Series.

• External data logger (E-Logger) with a fast sampling rate of up to 1 ms for simultaneous voltage and current waveform measurements (requires both the E36150ATMU and the E36150ADVU). The sampling rate and resolution of the measurement system for ISO test applications in the automotive sector must be adjusted so that all maximum and minimum values—i.e., peaks and troughs—are recorded. The measurement data is continuously transmitted to a PC via USB or LAN, allowing peak values as well as interruptions and short circuits to be captured and monitored in real time.
