The BBV 9748 broadband preamplifier from Schwarzbeck is a versatile device that impresses with its high gain (29 dB) and low noise figure (2.7 dB at 1 GHz). It covers a wide frequency range from 10 MHz to 8 GHz and is particularly suitable for measurements at low signal limits. Its robust aluminum construction, combined with N-type flange connectors, provides stability and reliability.

Its two-stage architecture, with an ESD-protected first stage, ensures high signal quality, but the amplifier remains sensitive to electrostatic discharges. Discharging the coaxial cables before connection is therefore essential. Thanks to the integrated voltage regulator, the amplifier can be operated flexibly via 12 V power supply units, batteries or rechargeable batteries, with protective circuits mitigating voltage peaks.

The BBV 9748 is ideal for applications where high sensitivity is required, such as in high-frequency technology. However, it is less suitable for broadband interference measurements, such as those that occur in EMC, as the amplification can have a negative effect on the receiver's behavior.
