Conventional and regenerative power supply.

EA's portfolio of programmable bidirectional and regenerative DC power supplies covers power ratings from 1,500 W (1 U) to 30 kW in a single 19″ 4U enclosure.

The units can be easily connected in parallel to provide an output power of up to 2 MW, with up to 2000 V. All bidirectional power supplies from EA feature autoranging and therefore offer additional operating ranges.

The lower the test voltage, the higher the currents that are possible. Likewise, higher voltages are available at lower currents. This allows a much broader range of test routines to be covered with a bidirectional DC power supply.

Regenerative Energy Recovery.

EA's bidirectional power supplies feed energy back into the grid during load operation. They convert the excess DC voltage delivered by the DUT into AC voltage with an efficiency of over 96% and feed it back into the local power grid.

The acquisition cost pays for itself through reduced electricity costs. In addition, the power supplies generate hardly any waste heat, making them an environmentally friendly and cost-efficient solution.

True Autoranging.

"Autoranging" enables full source/sink power over a wider operating range. This allows more DUTs to be tested with a single power supply. In source operation, the power supply automatically generates a higher output voltage when a lower current is required, and a higher output current at lower voltages.

In load operation, it operates with a higher input voltage when a lower load current is required, and it generates a higher load current at a correspondingly lower system voltage. EA's autoranging function achieves full load power down to 33% of the nominal input voltage.


Integrated function generator with predefined waveform shapes and simulations.

When using a bidirectional power supply, the input voltage and input current or input load often need to follow a predefined curve.

EA's integrated function generator provides predefined waveform profiles, for example sine, triangular, rectangular, or trapezoidal waveforms, as well as freely configurable arbitrary functions. A ramp function and U/I and I/U tables are also available.

In addition, the bidirectional sources provide various simulation functions for battery emulation (lithium, lead), for photovoltaic arrays, and for fuel cells (FC). A battery discharge profile as well as a PV MPP tracking simulation for load operation are also already included as standard.
