The USB‑232/4 interface provides an asynchronous connection instead of a USB connection to enable communication with devices equipped with the RS‑232 serial interface. The USB 232/4 port can be used within applications as a standard serial port, including for RTS/CTS hardware handshake lines. NI serial interfaces appear as standard COM ports, so compatibility with programs given, use serial communication.
