Technical Data

Description

GPT-12001 | HV AC Safety Analyzer, AC 5 kV, 200 VA

The GPT-12000 series from GW Instek is the more compact sibling of the GPT-15000 series and is aimed at users who want to perform precise and reliable safety tests – with lower power requirements and in a space-saving design. Despite the reduced output power, the series impresses with the same technological basis and full compliance with the international safety standard IEC 61010-2-034. It combines precision, safety, and ease of use in a particularly economical device design.

With state-of-the-art PWM amplifier technology, a double insulation structure, and a brilliant 7" TFT color display, the GPT-12000 series offers the same user experience and testing accuracy as the larger models, but with an output power of 200 VA – ideal for medium-power laboratory and manufacturing applications.

The GPT-12000 series instruments are suitable for a wide range of applications, especially in:

  • Manufacturing inspection of electrical devices and components
  • Quality assurance in consumer and industrial electronics
  • Type testing and safety assessment according to international standards (IEC, EN, UL, CSA, GB, JIS)
  • Research and development of household and Communication Electronics
  • Testing of Power Supplies, Chargers, and Lights

The GPT-12001 variant presented here is the basic model of the series and was developed for AC voltage withstand tests and continuity tests. It offers all the essential functions required for standards-compliant safety testing and is aimed at users who need a compact, precise, and cost-effective test instrument.

Advantages of the GPT-12001:

  • Powerful AC output: up to 5 kV AC at 200 VA output power
  • Precise measurement resolution: down to 1 μA for accurate leakage current measurements
  • Continuity test with 100 mA: Fast and reliable detection of ground faults
  • Safety-oriented design: Double insulation, recessed START button and automatic discharge of the device under test
  • Intuitive operation: Clear menu navigation via 7" TFT color display
  • Data storage via USB: Export of test results without a PC
  • Compact format: Space-saving and ideal for benchtop or laboratory use

Distinguishing features within the series: The GPT-12001 focuses on AC dielectric strength and continuity testing. It differs from the GPT-12002 (additional DC function), GPT-12003 (AC/DC/IR tests) and GPT-12004 (AC/DC/IR/GB tests) by its clear focus on standard AC voltage tests. This makes it the ideal entry point into professional safety testing.

Product features of the GPT-12000 series:

  • AC output voltage: up to 5 kV
  • Output power: up to 200 VA
  • Measurement resolution: 1 μA (ACW)
  • Insulation resistance test (model dependent): 50 V – 5000 V DC
  • Test current for continuity test: 100 mA DC
  • Individually adjustable ramp-up/ramp-down time
  • Automatic discharge of the device under test to approx. 30 V after test completion
  • Visual and audible warning signals for test status and results
  • Double-insulated power supply for maximum User safety
  • 100 memory locations for manual and 100 for automatic test programs
  • USB, RS-232C, optional GPIB or LAN interface
  • Statistics and sweep function for analysis and process monitoring
