What do Mozart, musicals and measurement technology have in common? The answer comes from the new “Frag dataTec” campaign. With an office musical, unusual measurement questions and a generous dose of humour, the test and measurement experts show that even complex technical subjects can be communicated simply and entertainingly. At the heart of the campaign is a clear message: Anyone with questions about test and measurement technology can ask dataTec.
The centrepiece and starting point is the musical “Eine kleine Nachtschicht”. Inspired by Mozart’s “Eine kleine Nachtmusik”, the singing host, Mr. dataTec, guides viewers through the world of test and measurement technology. Data sheets, hertz, volts and amperes take centre stage and are presented in an unusual way. Beyond his musical performance, Mr. dataTec explores intriguing questions in poster designs, social media formats and short workshop videos:
How do you measure a ball kicked at 128 km/h? How do you measure the sound of a raindrop? Or is it possible to measure how much a glacier sweats? These unusual questions provide an engaging introduction to measurement technology and lead to real measurement tasks in development, research and quality assurance.
With “Frag dataTec”, the company also puts a key part of its value proposition in the spotlight: personal consultation. Choosing suitable test and measurement equipment often involves more than technical specifications. It requires an understanding of the requirements of a specific measurement task in order to identify the right solution.
“With ‘Frag dataTec’, we want to lower the barrier to asking a question, even when dealing with complex technical tasks. Behind every answer are people who listen, are approachable and use their expertise to help. This combination of technical competence and personal consultation is exactly what we want to make more visible through the campaign,” says Roland Bertler, Head of Marketing at dataTec AG.
“Frag dataTec” was developed in collaboration with Jung von Matt Industry. Production company PROMPTR was responsible for the film production, directed by Simon Meyer. The reinterpretation of Mozart’s “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” was created by 2WEI Music.
Generative AI was used to produce the film and visual content. The music, however, was produced entirely using conventional methods. dataTec is also taking a new approach to the ongoing implementation: Together with Jung von Matt Industry, the campaign visuals and further Mr. dataTec videos are being produced progressively in-house at dataTec.
“The possibilities offered by generative AI give us the scope to implement a campaign of this kind as a medium-sized company and continue it over the long term. But people remain the decisive factor for us: Our experts are the ones who understand our customers’ questions and work with them to find the right solution for their measurement task,” says Bertler.
With “Frag dataTec”, the company aims to increase its visibility beyond its existing target groups while showing what the brand stands for: expertise in test and measurement technology, personal consultation and a willingness to get to the bottom of even unusual questions.
